ADVANCED WATER AND MOISTURE BARRIER SYSTEM

Description

The XtraFlash Plus™ Advanced Water and Moisture Barrier System creates an impenetrable seal between the window and the wall. Highlighted by the patent-pending revolutionary five-seal system; the factory folded, dual-strip butyl sealing system is folded over the nail fin during installation, finalized with a dual layer of polyurethane sealant. Wind, water, and moisture are virtually stopped in their tracks.

Anatomy of the Five-Seal System

1. The XtraFlash Plus™ Five-Seal System's initial line of defense is its inner 1 1/2" butyl strip.

2. The first fold of the XtraFlash Plus™ system creates an impenetrable barrier between the rough opening and the window frame.

3. A 3/8" inner layer of caulking creates a polyurethane seal between the nail fin and the flashing.

4. An outer 1 1/2" butyl strip seals the top fold of the flashing to the nail fin.

5. A 3/8" outer layer of caulking is applied, which completes the seal and the revolutionary XtraFlash Plus™ Advanced Water and Moisture Barrier System.

Installation Technology

1. Lower Sill Installation:
Once the opening for the window is properly prepared, the XtraFlash Plus™ System ensures that water and moisture will not penetrate the structure. The flashing should be applied to the lower horizontal sill first, to create the foundation of the revolutionary XtraFlash Plus™ System.

2. Side Flashing Installation:
By creating a slice where the lower sill flashing will intersect with the vertical side flashing, the XtraFlash Plus™ System creates the basis for an impenetrable bond against water and moisture. The side flashing is then installed on the sides of the structure where the window will soon be placed.

3. Window Placement:
Once the side flashing is installed, the window can be inserted and held into place using sealant and fasteners.

4. Revolutionary XtraFold Process:
Next, the fold flashing should be folded onto the top of the nail fin. By creating a strong bond between the flashing and the nail fin, the XtraFlash Plus™ System becomes an advanced water and moisture barrier system.

5. Header Barrier Installation:
Apply the top flashing to the final side of the window. Once this header barrier installation is complete and effectively sealed, the window should be protected on all four sides, creating an effective seal.

6. Sealant Application:
Finally, by sealing all four sides of flashing with polyurethane, the XtraFlash Plus™ System is an impermeable barrier system that guarantees water and moisture-proof windows.

XtraFlashPlus™ has been tested with all the XtraBond™ Sealants and has been determined compatible. If this product is used with any other sealants, a compatibility test and adhesion test must be conducted by the purchaser or end user. The purchaser should contact the company providing such products.
